Your browser displays a warning that a page in WebAssign contains mixed content or content that is not encrypted or secure. In addition, some content in the page might not be displayed.
Depending on the web browser and version, the warning might refer to secure/insecure content, mixed content, or encrypted/unencrypted content. Some examples follow:
- Only secure content is displayed.
- You have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information.
Some browsers change the icon displayed beside the web address. Instead of the padlock or shield displayed for secure content, you might see a broken padlock, a padlock with an exclamation point, or a page icon.
Depending on the type of content, the browser version, and browser settings, the insecure content might not be displayed.
Although WebAssign uses secure https connections, instructor or third-party content might request external files using a less-secure http connection. When possible, WebAssign will serve this content using https.
This warning will happen only if the requested content can't be accessed using https.
If this situation happens, you have several choices:
- Do nothing. If the page does not seem to be missing any important content, you do not need to do anything.
- If prompted by your browser, you can choose to view the insecure content. Usually this is not a problem, but be aware that the insecure content might be a vector for malware, phishing, or other kinds of attacks.
- If you can't display the insecure content in your browser, you can try signing in with a different supported browser.
- Report the content to Customer Support. In most cases, an assignment or question that references insecure content can be updated to reference only secure content from WebAssign.
