You can remove questions from an existing mastery set without removing them from
the assignment. If you remove all questions from the mastery set, the set itself is
removed.

If needed, click
Try the New Assignment Editor in the original Assignment Editor to enable
this improved experience now.

Expand the Questions section and click
+ Add Questions.

In the question list on the right, click for each question you want to remove.
To remove all questions from the mastery set, click in the mastery set heading.

If needed, change the number of questions that will be included in the
assignment and the number of correct answers required for credit.
Your mastery set displays Require x of y where x is the
required number of correct answers to earn credit and y is the number of
questions shown to the student.
In this example, students will be given 3 questions and must answer 2 of them
correctly to earn credit.
You can also change these settings from your list of questions in the
Assignment Editor. Find your mastery set and click
.

Click Update Assignment at the bottom of the question
summary.
Important Your assignment is not changed
until you click Update Assignment.
The Question Browser closes and your changes are shown
in the Assignment Editor.
