After the lab is finished, every student should complete a post-lab assignment that both reinforces the lessons learned in the lab and assesses students' understanding of the material individually. Post-lab assignments should not be available to students until after the lab period is over.
Post-lab assignments often present a sample data set that would be typical for the experiment that was performed in the lab and require students to perform the same analyses of the data that were performed on the lab report. These data sets should be randomized individually so each student receives a different version of the post-lab assignment.
Post-lab assignments might also contain multiple-choice or multiple-select questions covering the concepts and conclusions for the experiment.
