There are three types of scores. You can also excuse a student from an assignment.
The score types are:
- Raw score: The score the student earned. If you adjust or override a score, you can always revert to the raw score whenever you want.
- Adjusted score: The student's raw score plus any bonus points or minus any penalty points applied to it. The adjusted score changes when the student's raw score changes.
- Override score: An assignment score you enter manually. This type of score always remains the same unless you enter a different override score or choose to use the raw score instead.
Examples:
Example 1: A student earned 12/20 points, so that is the student's raw score. You add a 2 point bonus, so the student has an adjusted score of 14/20. The student resubmits the assignment and earns 5 additional points, so the new adjusted score is 19/20. (The new raw score is 17/20.)
Example 2: A student earned 12/20 points. You apply a 2 point penalty, so the adjusted score is 10/20. Later, you determine you meant to give the penalty to a different student, so you choose to use the raw score of 12/20 instead.
Example 3: A student earned 12/20 points. You add a 2 point bonus, so the adjusted score is 14/20. Later, you override the student's score to be 16/20. The student resubmits the assignment and earns 5 additional points. The student's score remains 16/20 unless you change the override score to a different value or choose to use the raw score of 17/20.
