Create and add a mastery set to your assignment.
Note This information describes how to use the new Assignment Editor.
If needed, click
Try the New Assignment Editor in the original Assignment Editor to enable
this improved experience now.
The following assignment settings are automatically set when you add a mastery
set and cannot be changed:
- Submit answers by is set to
Question.
- Randomize question values is enabled.

Expand the Questions section and click
+ Add Questions.

Add the questions to your assignment that you want to use in the mastery set.

In the question list on the right, select each question you want to add to the mastery
set.
You must select at least 2 questions to create a new mastery set.

Note
Inline tutorial questions and mastery sets cannot be included in the same
assignment. If your assignment includes inline tutorial questions, they
are flagged with errors when you add a mastery set. You cannot update
your assignment until you have either removed all inline tutorial
questions, or removed all mastery sets.
Some other question types can be used in the same assignment as a mastery
set, but cannot be included in a mastery set. These questions are
flagged with warnings and are not added to the mastery set.

If needed, change the number of questions that will be included in the
assignment and the number of correct answers required for credit.
Your mastery set displays Require x of y where x is the
required number of correct answers to earn credit and y is the number of
questions shown to the student.
In this example, students will be given 3 questions and must answer 2 of them
correctly to earn credit.
You can also change these settings from your list of questions in the
Assignment Editor. Find your mastery set and click
.

Click Update Assignment at the bottom of the question
summary.
Important Your assignment is not changed
until you click Update Assignment.
The Question Browser closes and your changes are shown
in the Assignment Editor.
