Drop Lowest Assignment Scores from GradeBook

You can drop each student's lowest assignment scores in an assignment category from GradeBook calculations. For example, you can drop each student's lowest two quiz scores.

Dropped assignments are not counted toward the points possible or points earned in GradeBook calculations.

Note The lowest assignment scores are not dropped if that would result in dropping all scores in the assignment category.

For example, if you drop the lowest two quiz scores, those scores are dropped only if at least one quiz score would still be counted in the GradeBook.

  1. From the GradeBook, click Settings.
  2. Click the Categories tab.
  3. At the top of the Categories page, select an assignment category.

Assignments in that category are listed.

  4. At the top of the list of assignments, enter the number of low assignment scores to be dropped in Drop lowest Category assignments.
  5. Optional: Set specific assignments that can not be dropped.

For example, you might want to drop the lowest two quiz scores for each student except for the final quiz, which should be counted regardless of the student's score.

Beside the assignment, select not allowed to be dropped.

The assignment will not be dropped, regardless of the score.

  6. Click Save.

If you don't want to update your GradeBook calculations now, first clear Update GradeBook.

After your GradeBook is updated, student category scores and grades exclude the dropped assignments from calculation of points possible and points earned.
