A complete package with the highly acclaimed WebAssign course management system is now available with this edition.

Question 1 contains a Master It.

Question 2 prompts the student how to enter several answer possibilities. In this case, the grading accepts a comma-separated list of ordered answers.

Question 3 allows multiple different forms of the correct word form.

Question 4 contains an image with randomized expressions included for a seamless experience for the student.

Question 5 utilizes equation grading where any equivalent form of the equation is accepted.

Question 6 demonstrates how images can be randomized in addition to the standard practice of randomized numbers.

Question 7 incorporates special grading to accept negative values denoted with a minus sign or (). This demo assignment allows many submissions and allows you to try another version of the same question for practice wherever the problem has randomized values.

Solution or Explanation
Recall that an improper fraction occurs when the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator. To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number first divide the numerator by the denominator. If there is no remainder, the improper fraction becomes a whole number. If there is a remainder, then a mixed number will result in the following form where the divisor of the mixed number will be the denominator from the original improper fraction.
whole number
remainder
divisor
The given improper fraction is
25
7
.
The division to be performed is the following.
7 25
Using long division to find the quotient and remainder of
7 25
,
we have the following.
3
7 25
  21
4
Thus, the quotient is 3 with a remainder of 4.
To write this as a mixed number in the form
whole number
remainder
divisor
,
the whole number is 3, the remainder is 4, and the divisor is 7.
Therefore, as a mixed number,
25
7
 = 3
4
7
.
