New Feature: PencilPad

We're very pleased to announce PencilPad—a simple drawing tool that can be used in in a question. You can now ask your students to create a simple "pen and ink" drawing of a physical situation, sketch a trend of a plot, show a few steps in a solution, or create a small piece of art!

PencilPad is very simple. You just have a pencil and an eraser and one or more lined pages to draw or write on. WebAssign stores your students' work and allows you to grade their submission just like an essay, if you choose.

If your students have a tablet computer, it's very easy for them to show their work in detail using PencilPad.

Here's an example from an electrical circuits question.

If you create some questions that really show off what students can do using PencilPad, please let us know so we can put them on our Best Practices page.

As always, feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions on ways we can make WebAssign better for you!
